Manuel Pellegrini's City side won only one of their last four top-flight matches, and like Chelsea, will be looking to bounce back from a shock FA Cup defeat at the weekend. Monaco have taken 19 points from their last seven league matches and kept clean sheets in all seven. Lyon moved four points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table after stretching their winning streak to seven matches with a 2-0 home win against Metz on Sunday. Lyon beat Monaco 2-1 at home in Ligue 1 back in September. Monaco returned to the Stade de Gerland on December 17 and beat Lyon on penalties in the Coupe de la Ligue.

Udinese's home form has been poor and they have picked up just two points form their last five league matches at the Stadio Friuli. Juventus moved seven points clear at the top of the Serie A table after beating Chievo 2-0 in Turin on Sunday. Juventus have won six straight league matches against Udinese with an aggregate score of 15-2

Table-topping Real Madrid claimed their 16th league win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Cordoba on Sunday after having Cristiano Ronaldo red-carded late in the game. David Moyes' Real Sociedad are the only side left without an away victory in La Liga this season. La Real rallied from two goals down to beat Madrid 4-2 in San Sebastian on August 31.

Second-place Wolfsburg are unbeaten at home in the Bundesliga this season, with seven wins and two draws at the Volkswagen Arena. Bayern Munich signed off 2014 with eight straight league victories and return to action after the winter break with an 11-point lead over Wolfsburg. Bayern beat the Wolves in their last eight league and cup matches.

Saint-Etienne lost their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 of 12 matches after Jeremy Clement handled the ball in the area and Zlatan Ibrahimovic coolly converted the resultant penalty. Paris Saint-Germain move level on points and goal difference with second-placed Marseille with the hosts four points adrift in fourth.

In a game of eleven yellow cards and two penalties tempers were naturally high but with this victory Valencia leapfrog over Sevilla into fourth place in the La Liga table. The hosts have now lost only one of the 13 league and cup matches played at the Mestalla Stadium this season. Dani Parejo hit a brace, one from the spot and this was followed by Carlos Bacca converting his spot kick. Javi Fuego Martinez put the game beyond the visitor's reach just before the hour mark.

Fiorentina remain in the top six with this draw after starting 2015 with back-to-back victories. Second-place Roma, unbeaten currently in ten league matches are now seven points adrift of leaders Juventus. The Scudetto rivals meet next month and on this showing Juve are clear favourites to widen the gap at the top. Roma also look to be without key midfielder Kevin Strootman as he went off during the first half with a knee injury.

Title-chasing Man City slipped five points behind leaders Chelsea after being beaten 0-2 by Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. Santi Cazorla scored on24 minutes from the penalty spot after Vincent Kompany fouled Nacho Monreal. This was followed after the hour mark when a Cazorla free-kick was headed home by Olivier Giroud. The Gunner's deserved victory finishes Manchester City's 12-match unbeaten league run.
