Mainz are now without a win in nine league matches but they took the lead against the league leaders after 20 minutes when Elkin Soto shot through the legs of Manuel Neuer. Unbeaten Bayern Munich however claimed their eighth straight league victory when Arjen Robben hit home with 30 seconds of the match remaining after Bastian Schweinsteiger had earlier struck in a 20 metre free-kick.

Leaders Bayern Munich stretched their winning streak in the Bundesliga to seven matches and unbeaten run to 20 with this home victory over Freiburg. Arjen Robben scored his 100th goal for Bayern with a goal just before half-time and three minutes into the second half Thomas Muller headed home to ensure the win.

Man Utd's sixth successive league win keeps them in third pace in the Premier table five points behind Manchester rivals City. Liverpool had more of the game but wasted all their chances whereas the hosts took all theirs to put even more pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers. Wayne Rooney gave United the lead after just 12 minutes and the visitors went further behind when Juan Mata's offside attempt was allowed to stand. Robin van Persie added a third with 20 minutes to go.

The hosts had goalkeeper Mattia Perin sent off on the half-hour mark but substitute keeper Eugenio Lamanna saved the resulting penalty. Nainggolan scored the only goal of the match ten minutes later.
